JOLA Slate

The Jola quarry is situated in the surrounded area to Páramo del Sil village, within the Alto Bierzo area in León (North West of Spain). A new small quarry operated by a well-known family, Termenón Family and a respected company, within the large Spanish slate industry.
Jola Slate is a fine-medium grained blue greyish slate with a smooth surface. It splits into plates with a uniform width varying from 6 to 10 mm. It does not contain metallic minerals on its surface. Geoproy offers to the specified / roofer a really good-looking, well selected slate at a reasonable price.

Jola slate is a natural material and samples are regularly tested to the following national standards UNE, which is the equivalent to the British Standad and both based on European normative:

UNE- EN 12326-1: 2000 Product specification for roofing slate
• Exhibited the top Class A1 for water absorption
• Exhibited the top Class T1 for thermal cycle resistance
• Exhibited the top Class S1 for sulphur dioxide exposure resistance
• Good flexural strength both transversely and longitudinally
• Acceptable non-carbonate carbon content

Guarantee:
Jola Blue Grey slates are non-combustible and unaffected by freeze/thaw cycling, atmospheric pollution, acid rain or salt spray. They will not rot or delaminate, do not encourage the growth of lichens or mosses and are compatible with all common building materials. The thermal conductivity tests on slate no produce any change of external appearance.
Great emphasis is placed on Quality control, with all slates being rigorously checked during the splitting and packing stages, which is made by hand.
